Five Free Hours

Five Free Hours

In 2025, I celebrated the one-year anniversary of Slaton Consulting by giving five free hours of consulting to 10 nonprofits. I had so much fun that I’ve made it into a twice-a-year tradition, and have convinced other consultants to join in the fun!

I’ve invited NonprofitBestie, J Gattis Consulting, Cooper Consulting, and Apex Compass Solutions to join me in giving away Five Free Hours to qualified nonprofits this October.

These hours can be used for things like:

  • Coaching and talking through challenges
  • Strategy and planning discussions
  • Fundraising or board development advice
  • Systems and workflow troubleshooting
  • Clarity sessions around goals, roles, or next steps

Aren’t sure what to ask for? That’s fine! We can use some of your hours to work through that and set up a plan of action.

Think your project might take more than five hours? That’s fine! We can talk through how to use the pro bono hours most effectively, or we can give you a quote for the full project with your first five hours free.

Have a project that requires super specialized technical know-how that we don’t have? That’s fine! We can help you define your scope and criteria so you know exactly what you’re looking for.

Not a 501(c)(3)? That’s (probably) fine! This offer is open to organizations still working on becoming 501(c)(3)s, or who are organized as something else, like a 501(c)(4) or 501(c)(6).

Registration is open through October 31

How It Works

  • After registration closes, we will match up to 30 nonprofits with a participating consultant.
  • We’ll review all applications and look for organizations where we can make the most impact in five hours, based on your needs, timing, and fit with our consultants.
  • We cannot guarantee a match for all applicants.
  • Selected nonprofits will be introduced to their consultant by email and are expected to schedule an introductory call within 30 days.
  • Following the introductory call, the five hours should be used within 90 days, subject to consultant availability.
  • All work is provided at no cost, with no obligation for ongoing paid work.
  • Projects are more successful when nonprofits have clear goals and provide timely responses
  • If a match is not a good fit, we will do our best to find an alternative.
  • For larger or more complex projects, consultants may help define a portion of work that can be completed within five hours, or provide a scope and estimate for additional work beyond the pro bono time.
